The fateful summer of 2007

Having grown up together, Jack and Paul were back in the Midlands over the summer from university working the same local job to pay their way. They were both coming to the end of their degrees and discussion was taking the inevitable turn to their futures. Legal careers, it would seem. Issue was, they didn’t know where to look for guidance on how to pursue a career in law. If only there was something that could guide us on how to get into law?! It was in those moments the idea for AllAboutLaw was formed, and by December 18th, with the money earned from the summer job, www.AllAboutLaw.co.uk was born.

It’s official

Within a few months, AllAboutLaw had quickly become a key resource for students looking to pursue a career in law. It turned out Jack and Paul weren’t the only ones with the same issue! Seeing the potential, they set about getting seed investment to ramp up what they were doing and make things official. On 7th March 2008, AllAboutGroup was incorporated and funding secured to ramp up the work of AllAboutLaw.

Spreading the word

Jack and Paul hit the road, heading out to campuses across the land to spread the word of AllAboutLaw to the masses. The train journey from the Midlands to London became a well trodden path as the client list jumped rapidly, helping over 30 law firms by the end of the year to engage with and recruit aspiring lawyers.

Leaving the village

Having witnessed first hand how beneficial AllAboutLaw had become for both students and organisations, thoughts quickly turned to other sectors. Surely this can work for other sectors too? It didn’t take long before the idea for AllAboutCareers was hatched, Paul & Jack finally made it down to London and the first employees joined the team.

Ramping it up

AllAboutLaw shook off it’s training wheels and was completely re-structured, accommodating all students wishing to pursue a career in law from secondary school, university and beyond. It was to become a sign of things to come. The company secured another round of investment to build AllAboutCareers, with AllAboutLaw’s bigger brother born on 25th March. The team continued to expand and for the first time, the company began to work with employers outside of the legal sector.

The master plan

With over 50 happy clients and 50,000 young people using our tools each each month, we began to indulge the possibility of what could be achieved and how ambitious a vision we could pursue. The company had been created to help prepare young people wishing to pursue a specific career path, but why couldn’t the company help to prepare all young people? Maybe it was the spirit of the Olympics and the buzz it brought to London, but it was during that year our big vision emerged.

The year of launches

Equipped with a big vision and the enthusiasm to match, 2013 heralded in a prolific year of launches for AllAboutGroup. We became one of the very first organisations to cater for the school leaver market, with AllAboutSchoolLeavers launched on 7th January and MyCareerSpringboard going live just a day later (we still tell them they’re twins). We made our first foray into print with the launch of our legal publication, Nota Bene, and our first School Leaver Guide. Buoyed by all of the great work in the legal and apprenticeship market, we launched awards for each sector in recognition of our client’s efforts. The stall was set, the foundations of our vision in place and finally, a breath was taken at some point towards the end of December.

Gearing up

Having caught our breath, we were quickly back amongst it again, pushing forward with our vision and putting everything in place. The first and only niche finance careers platform, AllAboutFinanceCareers, went live on 3rd August, followed by AllAboutLLMs on 28th October. Our first quarterly newspaper, The Principle, was launched and sent to the most discerning of aspiring lawyers at campuses across the UK. Perhaps the most pivotal development, however, we produced the first annual School Leaver Market Research Report that quickly became the go-to resource for anyone looking for insights into the school leaver market.

Heads down

With so many seeds planted the previous year, 2015 was the time to nurture, grow and other similarly cliched ways to express that we really got our heads down and got to work. Our client list doubled, as did the number of young people we help and, dare we say it, we really started to make a name for ourselves across the market.

Taking it to the masses

With now over 150 clients and assisting over 4 million young people each year, AllAboutGroup reached a whole new level. The apprenticeship market continued to experience unprecedented levels of growth and with that, we launched the School Leaver Conference. We increased the number of schools we were working with to over 2,500 and helped organisations to forge greater relationships with them. The High Rise, our finance newspaper, arrived on campuses across the UK to continue our expansion into the finance sector.

We’ve got company

AllAboutGroup moved to swanky new offices in Shoreditch, the company grew to over 20 employees and we are now helping almost 6 million young people each year, with more than half a million visitors to the sites each month and over 200,000 active subscribers.

Widening our offering

Our first website, AllAboutLaw, was relaunched along with a much improved version of MyCareerSpringboard and our newest site, AllAboutApprenticeships went live in February.

In 2018 our offering has widened to incorporate full end to end recruitment solutions for our clients. Taking the last decade of experience and new ways to reach users means we are able to help our clients through every step of the recruitment process from branding and attraction, all the way through selection, assessment and on-boarding.
